Embracing our culture and heritage,in most Kenyan communities some dishes are very essential hence prepated on a daily basis or once in a while.They include;

Githeri.
Most tribes in Kenya ate fond of this dish.It's a mixture of both maize and beans boiled to ultimate softness.The breans provide proteins ad the maize give carbohydrates. Its cheap to prepare and very nutritious.

Ugali with sukumawiki.
This African cake is a staple food for most communities.Go to Western Kenya,ugali is the King in the Stomach.Accompanied with it is the famous sukumawiki.When you cannot afford the expensive beef,fish and chicken,one can always resort to it.Not only does it provide vitamins for the body,but also  affordable and delicious.

Chicken, fish.
These are the rare commodities,which are consumed once in a while.It is that day when you have a special visitor that your mum orders you to run after that fat hen and slaughter it or she sends you to the market to buy fish. That day when fish,chicken is for supper,you would notice the quick response,coordination and smiles among the children.

Rice, chapati.
Some families,like those in the Mwea region eat rice on a daily basis because that's what they grow. For these other families, rice is such a prestigious food.Children would be enthusiastic and even boast to their friends about it.Chapati as well.

Tea.
At least in every homestead ,people get up to prepare tea for breakfast with or without an escort.Some would take tea for breakfast and lunch depending on time,preference, and resources.

Now get into a normal Kenyan home and you won't fail to have a taste of a combination of either of the above.
